Merge Poker Network Grows Players Only And Sportsbook
April 15th 2010 is a big day for the Merge Poker Network , with two major sites joining the network at once. Sportsbook Poker and Players Only Poker are leaving the Cake Poker Network and joining Merge – bringing with them significant player pools which could see the Merge Network grow by up to 6 times!
This move is good news for all players on existing Merge sites such as Carbon Poker and Aced Poker – as well as those on the moving sites. Existing players will be pleased to know that many of the players coming over with the move are those attracted to the poker tables from the larger sports-betting side of the Sportsbook.com business. As you can imagine these include larger numbers of recreational players and less in the way of smaller stakes pro grinders than at many sites – potentially making the tables more profitable for all.
Sportsbook Poker and Players Only Poker will definitely benefit too – not least from the Merge Network software which is much better than that at the Cake Poker Network. The transfer will occur automatically, with players at these sites being asked to download the new software when they start their existing poker clients.
With a 3rd poker site already pledging to make the move to Merge this year (Lock Poker, again from the Cake Network). We think this will be an interesting year for this smaller US-friendly network. Whether they reach their stated goal of becoming a top 10 poker site depends on many factors – though there is no doubt that this network have the potential to do great things.
