Cake Poker Network

Cake Poker Network are US-friendly and in 2012 are the clear 2nd placed poker room – with a healthy 2500+ simultaneous players at peak times giving you a wide choice. Cash games are where the main action is on the Cake network, with plenty of PLO and PLO8 tables as well as the usual Holdem. Notable brand names within this network include Cake Poker themselves (by far the biggest site on this network), plus Colt Poker and Power Poker.

The shake-up in the US sent many of the ‘pro grinders’ away from the tables, making the remaining games far more recreational in nature. Not only are the games enjoyable, you will find them profitable too – especially when you take into account the generous ‘Gold Card’ and ‘Gold Chip’ rewards offered by sites on the Cake Poker Network.

New News May 2012: Looks like Cake is going to get a big boost, with Lock Poker buying the network and planning on moving (along with their players) at the end of May. With big marketing money and their growing stable of well known pro players, this could be just the boost that the Cake Poker network needed to compete with Merge. Stay tuned to the Poker Bonus Network, for all the latest news without the celebrity hype!

Key Members Of The Cake Poker Network

I look at the Cake Poker Network as being made up of Cake Poker… and then the rest. The dominant site on this network is where you will find the best of the action and majority of the players. I will also give a mention to new Cake Network site Colt Poker – if you have been playing poker for any length of time you will know that the new sites are the often generous with their initial marketing budgets while they grow their player base… making this a unique opportunity to get involved!

Cake Poker Network Sites – Cake Poker Overview

cake poker network info pageCake Poker were founded in 2006 by poker pros who wanted to make up for the shortcomings of the bigger sites. Their results were initially excellent, however these days the Cake software does look and feel a little like it was ‘really good in 2006′ (with the other networks all catching up since).

Fast forward to 2012 and we see Cake as the 2nd biggest site still accepting US players, as well as those worldwide. Their smaller stakes cash games are plenty busy enough for recreational players to enjoy, with Omaha popular in addition to Holdem. Tournaments are on the smaller side, though there are plenty of small guarantees to keep players interested.

One extra which players at Cake enjoy are the highly rated Gold Card and Gold Chip loyalty schemes. Cards are awarded randomly (more at higher limits) and are used to make up hands which trigger cash bonuses – collect all 52 in a given period for $52,000! Chips are accumulated with the volume of play and are exchanged for tournament entries… these tournaments have nice prize pools and small fields – so you have a good chance of turning the chips into cash. This is on top of your welcome bonus (110% to $600) + plenty of one-off promotions and live event satellites.

Cake are a solid choice for US readers. Not enough tables to ‘go pro’, but a long standing room with entertaining games which are easy to profit from! Click this link to check out Cake Poker for yourself now!

Cake Poker Network – Other Skins

There is a long list of other skins who share the Cake Poker network, these include new site Colt Poker, Power Poker and Chocolate Poker. Each of these skins pool their players on the same software – branding and coloring in their own designs. While local loyalties and extra incentives bring advantages to being a member of a smaller skin, I prefer the safety of being part of the biggest site on any network – and on this one Cake Poker themselves are way ahead.
