The future is mobile, or is it wearable computing, or maybe tablets in front of the TV…? Well, whatever the future there was a big announcement today – with yet another poker network jumping on the Android bandwagon, with Party Poker releasing their beta app.
This is designed to work for both Android phones and tablets and (more) covers the cash games and fast forward games (this is the Party version of Rush / Zoom).
Though Party and their parent company Bwin- Party are one of the best trusted poker networks around, there is some concern that this app is not available in the Google Play store at the moment – requiring you to bypass the default Android setting which blocks app downloads not in the store. For me this is not a concern, though I recommend that you turn off the setting after download (though remember to get the latest version of the app every now and again). You can find the full instructions on how to download the Party android app at their website.
Android Poker Networks – Before You Get The Party Poker App
You will need to set up your Party account online in the usual way before you can play for real money on the app. This is a simple process, set up your account, deposit and then download the app, log in and play! When you fill up your account with profits from the many recreational players and fish at this famous poker site then you go back to the normal (PC) client to withdraw. If you would like to check out how the Android version plays before you try the real money games you are in luck, play money is also available.
Which Other Poker Networks Are Recommended For Android Phones and Tablets?
Readers looking for alternatives should certainly check out 888 Poker. This is not only one of the oldest poker sites around, they were an early adopter of mobile technology too – with a nicely established Android Poker app. Thanks to the (bigger) casino brand there is plenty of cross-over traffic at this site who have little or no knowledge of poker strategy – making the games extremely profitable.
Again you should register your account at the regular PC client first (most Western countries get a completely free $8 to check out the games before you commit your own cash). Once you have a user name and password then you can download the app and get playing. Check out the 888 Poker Website for the latest cool promotions at this top rated site.
Pokerstars also have an app, I am reserving my recommendation for this at the moment – not for any technical reasons… more for the large number of ‘small stakes pro grinders’ you will find at Stars – putting it another way the two sites I already mentioned are far easier to beat. I should also note that OnGame’s Red Kings are Android-friendly, this is a great mid-sized network and a worthwhile consideration, though for me 888 do Android a lot better!
I expect to be writing a lot more articles like this in the future as technology improves and more people get tablets and smart phones. Whatever the device you use, best of luck at the tables!
